Separation Anxiety
Separation Anxiety – (Read Romans 8:31-39)
Caitlin is my precious three-year old daughter. Recently she has been experiencing a bit of separation anxiety with her mommy and daddy. Like most children, there comes a time when they want to stick close to their parents, grabbing hold of their legs, snuggling in the bed, etc. However, I have learned that that won’t last long. Before you know it, they are off and running with busy schedules of their own. But at this moment, whenever her mother or I leave the house Cate is constantly asking, “mommy is coming right back? Daddy is coming right back?” She genuinely wants to know the answer to this question every time we leave the house.
If you think about it, we would suffer from separation anxiety without The Lord’s Prayer. What if we missed out on learning God’s Prayer? What if we missed out on praying for God’s Plan? What if we missed out on praying for God’s Promise? What if we missed out on praying for God’s Protection or God’s Provision? What if this prayer was not available to us? We would be left asking God, “Daddy, are you coming right back?” But this is not the case. Jesus did leave us with a very clear way to pray and depend on God. In Romans 8:31-39 we are reminded that nothing can separate us from the love of God! Nothing! So the next time you are experiencing a bout of separation anxiety from God, just pray The Lord’s Prayer. Thank you Jesus for showing us that “Our Father” is always right there.
