Good Friday??? Really?

How is it that we proclaim today a good day? Good Friday??? Really? Seems like there are other descriptions for today than good. How about Death Friday? or Bad Friday? Dark Friday? Black Friday? Sad Friday? Sin Friday? See what I mean? I want today to be called anything but Good Friday. Good Friday is problematic. There is nothing good about the day we killed God. There is nothing comfortable about celebrating or commemorating the day we chose to rid the world of God's truth. You have heard it said, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness," but I say to you that "Cleanliness is NEXT to holiness." Growing up playing outside with friends, I know I must have heard this phrase many times from parents and especially grandparents. "Wash your hands and face, cleanliness is next to Godliness." What exactly does that mean? If I wash my hands and my face, I will be close to God? If I scrub my body and put on nice, clean clothes, God will come near me. If I use the right cologne, God will want to come closer? Does God smell me? Does God care about my hygiene skills? I Saw Jesus

These days I’m seeing Jesus everywhere! More and more people are reading God’s Word daily and doing what it says. It is exciting times to be at our church with so many of you giving your lives to following Jesus. It is hard for me to contain my enthusiasm when I see the Frazer Family at work in God’s world! I saw Jesus last week in worship. I saw Jesus last week in a prayer group. I saw Jesus last week in our countless volunteers. I saw Jesus in our selfless staff. I saw Jesus in my wife and in my children. UPDATE: New Church in Haiti!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope and pray each of you are off to a great start to a the new year. Okay, so we challenged our entire church family at Frazer to build a church on Christmas Eve for the Deaf Community in Haiti. Our hope was to raise $145K on Christmas Eve at our Candlelight services. On Christmas morning our Senior Pastor Tim Thompson and I were excited to announce that we raised $147K!!! That is how God works... Today, we are over $155K which will go to building the new church and resourcing it with needed supplies. I will update this blog in the future with pictures of the building's progress. Let’s Build A Church On Christmas Eve!

Christmas Eve at Frazer is going to be amazing!!! Let me give you the back-story. A little over a year ago we followed God on a journey that led us to a Deaf Community in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Since then Frazer has adopted this community of 500 Deaf Haitians representing 168 households. Beginning in January 2012, we will move these wonderful people to their new homes in a smaller community outside of Port Au Prince. By the end of April the entire community should be in their new homes! There are many more details to share, but we need your help this Christmas Eve. Experiencing Pain, Seeing Miracles – Psalm 50:15

What if there are some things we will not know or cannot do without experiencing pain? I am overwhelmed by God’s extravagant grace that has been poured out on me, a sinner. It was nearly a week ago, that I was running on solid ground when in an instant it began to crumble and fall apart. It was during the Saturday morning Transformation Run at Fain Park. I was enjoying what was supposed to be a day filled with recreation. First, a four-mile run, and then my son’s soccer game, followed by a trip to Tallahassee to see my Florida State Seminoles play the Oklahoma Sooners! The year was 2001. It was a normal morning. I was getting ready for work, eating breakfast with my daughter (Kaylee) and my wife. We were watching the popular TV show Good Morning America, when all of sudden life in America would change forever. One plane, then another, and another and another crashed into the World Trade Center Towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. When all was said and done nearly 3,000 people lost their lives and America lost her innocence. Feelings of helplessness spread across the entire nation.
